Planning for winter 2016/17 – Met office winter gritting conference
As UK Landscapes are in the largest dozen customers in the “Independent Gritting” market for the Met office, last week we were invited to attend the Met office winter gritting conference in Exeter.
This included meeting the Road team and several members of the Met Office Senior Leadership Team.
A tour of the Met Office which included the chance to see the latest
High Performance Computer system (HPC) up close in one of the Computer Halls – It certainly was a rare opportunity and
not something normally available to visitors – as well as a tour of the Operations Centre.
Followed by a Showcase day where the Met
Office colleagues were on hand to discuss a number of topics.
The winter service team would like to thank the Met office for a productive couple of days.
